Bob Marcus 17th December 2007

As I walked along the boardwalk, from Belmar to Bradley Beach back in October(2007), I saw, literally, where dad and I fished in the 1950s, 1960s,1970s,1980s,1990s,and 2000s. Sometimes we caught many fish, and at other times we caught nothing. Some spots have disappeared in storms, such as the pier in Belmar. Dad said he had a "green thumb" when it came to fishing. Occasionally Carmine, dad's assistant at the bike store, came with us. Carmine kept an eye on both of us. I remember some extremely cold winter days fishing off the pier in Long Branch. Dad, Carmine and I would take turns running back to the restaurant on the pier to get hot beverages, and to get warm enough to venture out again in sub-freezing temperatures. How lucky I was to have had those special moments with dad, sharing feelings and thoughts about family, friends, events, life, future, and so much more. All my love and appreciation to dad for adding a richness to life that I will cherish forever. Bob Marcus
